December 2011

We welcome you to the annual holiday edition of News At Eight, produced by Eight Marketing Co., LLC. The holidays are a busy time in the region. Please join us in thanking everyone in the tourism and hospitality community who work hard every day (even the holidays) to make this region a wonderful place to live, work and play.

Think Gold? Think Again.

High Prices Are For The Birds.

8 maids a milkingEach year we highlight PNC Bank's real cost of the Twelve Days of Christmas, released in their annual survey. Overall the cost continues to rise, edging closer to $25,000 for all of the items and a whopping $101,000 to fulfill each day.

While one might think the price of gold is the culprit, gold prices actually decreased slightly.  The turle doves and partridges drove prices with double digit increases.

In 2011, "Eight Maids a Milking" are still working for minimum wage, which saw no increase for the second consecutive year. Hiring the maids this year is still a bargain at a cost of $58.00.

We invite you to visit the interactive PNC index.

There's Still Time for Free Virtual Holiday Greetings

QR codes are gaining in popularity for all marketing functions and holiday cards are no exceptions. Linking to special events, youtube videos and more are just a QR code away.

When you're done with your office greetings, you'll have time left over to create virtual greetings from your dog or cat, courtesy of Purina .
