Welcome The Rock School

The Rock School for Dance Education has retained the services of Eight Marketing for strategic planning assistance.

The Rock School is a premiere pre-professional classical ballet training institution. The Rock School began in 1963 as The School of the Pennsylvania Ballet and became independent in 1993. The Rock School draws students from across the country and around the globe. Its graduates have graced the stages of New York City Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Paris Opera Ballet, Berlin Ballet, Joffret Ballet, Philadanco, Pennsylvania Ballet, and other companies around the world.

The Rock School is distinguished by its blend of nurturing and pre-professional training coupled with an unrivaled academic program. For casual dancers, The Rock School reaches 70,000 local school children each year through its outreach program and provides training in dance basics at its headquarters on Broad Street and at Rock West in West Chester.

Partnership Connections

Paul Robeson House & The Media Theatre

In September, News at Eight reported on the October 20th launch event for the Stories From the Paul Robeson House. Taking special note was Patrick Ward, executive director of The Media Theatre. The Theatre was staging Showboat, whose 1936 film release starred Paul Robeson asJoe. Surely this would present an opportunity to have the stars of the stage production come out to the Paul Robeson House.

Plans were quickly put in place and the stars of the show toured the house and Fran Aulston, executive director of the Paul Robeson House, went down to Media to see the production.

Soon it was agreed that the show's star, Phillip Boykin and his fellow cast members, would appear at the October 20th launch, performing a show stopping rendition of Ol Man River made famous by Robeson. The performance so captivated the packed house that you could hear a pin drop during the song.

Eight Marketing was proud to be a catalyst in this partnership. If you'd like to connect with any of the organizations you read about in News at Eight, send an email to Fran Feldman Walish.
