The AZA Conference, Answer the Call of the Wild, will bring the national conservation and animal focus to our region, with more than 2,000 participants.

Technology Tip of the Month: P2P Programs

Sending large files to colleagues and clients is becoming more and more necessary in today's business world. Files more than 5 MB in size can often clog email systems, creating a need and a market for P2P (peer to peer) computer networks. Below is a comparison of two programs allowing you to do so: Pando and YouSendIt.

Pando is a free downloadable program allowing you to email large attachments, instant message a folder or publish videos to the web. Files and folders up to 1GB can be sent with this program using your existing email with no registration required. The person you are sending the files to with Pando does not need to have the program installed on their computer to be able to access the files You can also track your files to find out whether they have been downloaded and how often. Pando also allows you to publish downloadable videos, photos and audio to any web site. For more information on Pando, click here.

YouSendIt is a similar program that offers a free membership and also paid memberships offering additional options. With the free membership, users can send files up to 100 MB with a downloadable bandwidth limit of 1 GB. Files can be downloaded for seven days with 100 maximum downloads per file. Additional membership options are the Pro which is $9.99/month, the Business Plan which is $29.99/month and the Corporate Suite which existing subscribers can upgrade to, but are currently in beta testing.
